This comedy is the lively tale of three longtime friends, all in their sixties and all now widowed, who meet monthly to enjoy each other's company and visit the graves of their husbands.  In different stages of mourning, they each deal differently with friendship, discovery, loss and love.

Romance enters when one of the women is courted by a local tradesman. The once monthly ritual of graveside visits, the aftermath of the wedding of a mutual acquaintance and the revelation of marital secrets are all dealt with great humor and charm.

Character Descriptions

All five characters are in their late fifties, early sixties. 4 women, 1 male.

IDA – is the gentlest and most charming of the three widowed friends and the one who faces life the most realistically. She is ready to move on past grief and to accept new challenges.

LUCILLE – is the most brazen one, always looking for a good time and always looking to “get even” with her unfaithful husband.

DORIS – is the most conservative of the three and the one who refuses to change any element in her life. She adheres to her strict principles of love and respect and expects her friends to do the same.

SAM – is the local butcher, whose dead wife he still mourns, but who realizes that life has much to offer. He is willing to take a chance on happiness again.

MILDRED – is a show-off and a flirt. She appears only briefly in one scene.
